デイリーケア1Daily Care:
Refresh suede casual shoes
Raised leather version

People tend to think that suede shoes are difficult to care for because they cannot be polished in the usual way. Hiroaki Mitsuhashi, an expert colorist in the planning department of Columbus Corporation, Japan's top manufacturer of shoe care products, gives an easy-to-understand lecture. We want to wear popular shoes such as wallabies and moccasins beautifully.

Step.1 Before care

Care for lace-up shoes should be done after inserting the shoe keeper and removing the laces.
Using a large horsehair brush, brush the entire shoe, including the sole. Remove dust from the base of the wings and tan area. Raised leather is prone to dust adhesion, so it must be brushed thoroughly. Brushing does not damage the leather, so it should be done carefully.

Step.2 Remove dirt with a rubber type cleaner

Remove the stains with a rubber-type cleaner (rubbing cleaner). Rub the stain along the direction of the leather fibers (the direction of darkening). If the stain is difficult to remove, use a cleaner for suede (suede spray cleaner, two-way gum cleaner sand eraser type). A smaller contact surface of the sand eraser is more effective because it applies more tension. Use the corner of the rubber to remove persistent dirt that has adhered to the surface.

Step.3 Brushing

Brush with a wire brush. You can also use a wire brush to raise the bristles if they have been crushed.

Step.4 Clean with suede cleaner

Apply suede cleaner (suede spray cleaner) to the entire surface. Leave it on for a little while and brush it off to remove the stains. For crepe sole, use two-face lotion. Use lotion on crepe soles when paper or other materials get on the sole or when stains are stuck to the sole. For repairing the sole, go to a repair store.

Step.5 Spray with leather cure spray.

Spray a mist of oil (Leather Cure Nubuck Suede Nourishing Mist) at a distance of 15-20 cm to moisten the entire surface. 10-20 minutes later, allow to dry completely and brush the hair up. For dark leather, use Leather Cure Nubuck Suede Nourishing Mist to adjust the color of any color loss.

Step.6 Apply waterproofing spray

Apply waterproofing spray (AMEDAS 420 Water Repellent Spray), spraying evenly over the entire surface at a distance of 15-20 cm (15-20 in.). Be sure to ventilate the area before spraying. Before spraying, test on inconspicuous areas (inside heel, back of tan, etc.) to see if there are any stains.
