Storage

Your favorite leather item, but when you go to use it, it gets moldy...!
Many of you may have had such an experience.
Let's learn the correct storage method to avoid such a disaster.

From "Leather in Japan No. 3" published in 2010

In order to use your favorite leather items in the best condition whenever you want, it is essential to be careful when storing them. With a little effort, you will be able to use it comfortably every time, and the unique character of leather products will be enhanced. The main points of storage are to take basic care of the product before putting it away and to be careful not to lose shape when storing it. It is important to remove dirt, insecticide, moisture proofing, and deodorant, and to keep the item in its original beautiful shape.
Even if they are stored in a wardrobe, they will be discolored by exposure to fluorescent light every time the door is opened.
Keep in mind that the item is as delicate as that, and nurture your beloved child.

This bag has been used for about five years. The bottom of the bag is slightly crushed because I did not pay attention to storage.

Step 1: Brushing

First of all, remove dirt by brushing. This time, I used a horsehair brush. Use the brush as if you were scraping out dirt clogged in the pores of the bag. Remove any dirt stuck in the seams.

Step 2: Spray cleaner

Spray a spray cleaner, press it on the cloth, and then wipe it off. It is important not to try to scrub the stain off.

Step3. cream cleaner

Remove the dirt that has been lifted up by the spray cleaner with a cream cleaner. Do not apply too much.

Step 4: Waterproof Spray

The last step is to spray waterproofing spray. If you spray suddenly, the liquid may stain the leather, so it is better to start spraying on an empty space and move on to the leather!

Step 5: Remove debris from the inside

You may be surprised to find that the inside of your bag gets dirty without you knowing it. Turn the bag upside down and dust off the dust. Even if you use your bag every day, it is important to empty it once in a while to prevent dust and debris from accumulating.

Step 6: Deodorant spray

Spray a little deodorizing spray on the bag to prevent unpleasant smells. If the inside surface is dirty, wipe it down with a mild detergent solution and squeeze it tightly.

Step 7: Fill the container

Fill the non-woven cloth with newspaper, and then fill it with a medium of the right size. Avoid using newspaper as it may cause color transfer of ink. It is also effective to put a moisture absorbent in the container at the end to prevent mold and mildew.

Step 8: Hang the bag for storage

To keep the bag in good shape, it is best to hang it for storage. In this case, it is important to avoid using thin hooks or wire hangers, and choose ones that match the shape of the handles.

Hangers are the key to storing wear.

For clothes that will be pulled by gravity for a long period of time while on hangers, the most important point is the choice of hangers. Thin hangers that cut into the leather are outrageous, but you should be especially careful about the width of the shoulders. Storing clothes on hangers that do not fit properly will cause the leather to deform to the hanger's shape. Do not neglect to check in advance!

If you choose a hanger that fits the jacket's shoulder width, you can store it in its original beautiful silhouette. On the other hand, if the hanger is too large, the shoulders will pop out and the jacket will be deformed into the shape it is now.

If the garment has become badly frizzled, it can be ironed out. Always iron over a cloth at a low to medium temperature.

Steam is strictly forbidden, as leather will deform if it gets wet and then dries too quickly! Try it on an inconspicuous place before putting it into practice.
